Losing a Loved One

It is hard whenever we experience the loss of a loved one. It does not matter the relationship, whether it was a mother, father, child, aunt, uncle, cousin or friend. If you were close to the individual, then their departure from this world can have a profound effect on your mental and spiritual capacities. You cannot understand the pain of suffering if you have never experienced losing someone. You can't understand the emotions running through the minds of those who are grieving.

How can we heal from losing a loved one? We can start by realizing that God understands our pain. He knows that our hearts are grieving for our loved one. He himself has experienced losing someone dear to Him. In John 3:16, the Word of God tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." He understands how we feel when someone takes the life of a loved one. His only Son was crucified! He died for us! Next, we have to come to grips that death is evitable and that it only means the end of life on earth. Death brings us closer to eternity promised by Jesus for those who believe in Him. Death has no victory over us because Jesus conquered it for us. John 3:17 says, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." Finally, realizing that we have life eternally and that our loved ones are in a much better place. They are no longer suffering through the trials and tribulations we will continue to experience. And we have something to look forward to beyond this world; eternal life with our Lord & Savior. Death Death is... Inevitable...to all. Instant...for most. Slow...for some. The end...for unbelievers. The beginning...for believers. Conquered...by Jesus.
