"Never be a prisoner to your past. It was a lesson not a life sentence." Unknown
We all look back over our life and reflect on things of the past. We smile at the good thoughts of great memories that brought laughter, joy and happiness. Then we move on. Then there are memories that were not so good, some brought pain and some brought trouble. These are the ones we tend to hold on to and continue to live these out. You might be asking "How am I continuing to live out these memories? Well, by holding on to grudges, by holding on to hate, by holding on to the wrong that was done to you. You are still wanting payback. You are still wanting to see them suffer for the pain they caused you. You have given the situation power over you. You don't realize that you are holding yourself prisoner to them and to the pain. It is time to free yourself! So do what Paul tells us to do in Ephesians 4:31-32, "
'Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.'"
It is time to leave the past in the wind and walk into your future! You see, you can't move into your future, if you are focused on your past. The time has come to go from prison to purpose. God says in Isaiah 43:18-19, “'Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.'" It is a new season baby! It is a new day! And need I not remind you of the promise God made in Jeremiah 29:11. "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord , thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.'" Only you can unlock the door to your prison cell. Only you can fulfill your purpose. B.U.T, you have to let go of the past and seek God for the new things He has in store for you. Your future and your purpose is waiting!
