The Clues Are in His Word

Have you ever played the board game Clue? The object was to determine who committed the murder, where the crime took place and which object of weapon was used. Each player moved around the board collecting clues to solve the case. There are clues laid out for us to discover who God is and who we are in Him. He has given us clues to discovering Him intimately as we move through the Scriptures. Since we are here to discover who God is, let's start with my first clue in Exodus 3:14, which says, "God replied to Moses, "I Am who I Am". Say this to the people of Israel: I Am sent me to you." We find that God has revealed himself to Moses. He has instructed him to announce to the children of Israel, it is I Am who has come to rescue you. I Am meaning YHWH or Yahweh in Hebrew. Our next clue comes out of Jeremiah 31:35, where it reads, "It is the Lord who provides the sun to light the day and the moon and stars to light the night." He reveals Himself as the Creator of light. God doesn't want His children walking around in darkness. As we can see, light was the first thing He created in Genesis 1. Jesus even said He is the truth, the light & the way. Continuing on, our third clue is coming out of Psalms 23. Here God reveals himself as our Protector and our Provider. The Lord Is Our Shepherd we should never lack. Even in the darkest valley of our lives He is there to protect us and walk us through. If we follow the clues, we will learn so much more about the God we serve. We will and should be able to teach our children and our grandchildren who God is. I can go on for days searching the Scriptures to discover who God is, given clue after clue. Though He is hidden, God reveals Himself to us every chance He gets. He invites us to search for Him. God tells us that, "If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you", Jeremiah 29:13-14NLT. Follow the clues! This spiritual game is a little easier than discovering the murderers in the game of Clue. You see, we get help from the Holy Spirit. How many of you know it is His job? Jesus said it, I didn't. Let's take a look at John 14:16NLT, which states, "I will ask the Father, and He we will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever." How will He help us? Well, John 16:13NKJV reveals that to us. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." Want to Know God? Follow the clues! He is waiting to reveal Himself to you. He wants you to find Him. Follow the clues y'all!
